New York, NY(August 21st, 2012) - The Daily Meal - Spanfeller Media Group's (SMG) mega food site – today announced its role as media sponsor of the 2012 Sonoma Wine Country Weekend. Held from August 31-September 2, this full-bodied weekend showcases with sophisticated elegance Sonoma, the vast and varied birthplace of California wine.

This year, the weekend includes the new Sonoma Starlight Supper Club at Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Taste of Sonoma at MacMurray Ranch, Sonoma Valley Harvest Wine Auction at Chateau St. Jean, and intimate winery lunches, dinner parties and barbecues. This signature, three-day festival celebrates the grapes, wines, foods, people and culture that make Sonoma County the quintessential wine country destination.

As a media sponsor, The Daily Meal’s own Colman Andrews will attend events throughout the weekend, including an appearance with Eva Bertran and Gloria Ferrer in The Bubble Lounge at Taste of Sonoma at MacMurray Ranch for a feature on pairing sparkling wines with food. He will also interview an array of vintners and chefs from among the 200 or so of Sonoma County’s finest gathered for the event. The sponsorship will be amplified through onsite signage and signage throughout the many weekend events and marketing materials.

Now with over 5 million unique visitors monthly, The Daily Meal will provide its community with everything they need to know about Sonoma Wine Country Weekend by integrating editorial, video and campaign coverage throughout the site and across social media platforms.

Sonoma Wine Country Weekend is produced by the Sonoma County Vintners and the Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers Foundation. More than 170 wineries and 60 chefs offer their wines and food for sampling at Taste of Sonoma, which also includes wine seminars, chef demonstrations, vineyard experiences and a top chef competition.  Together with the Sonoma Valley Harvest Wine Auction and the Sonoma Starlight Supper Club at Francis Ford Coppola Winery, the weekend-long celebration benefits local charities that assist students, children, farm workers and people in need.
