SpareBank 1 SR-Bank raises mortgage rates

Continued strong inflationary pressure in the Norwegian economy resulted in Norges Bank increasing its policy rate to 2.25% on Thursday. SpareBank 1 SR-Bank will follow suit by raising its mortgage rates by up to 0.50 percentage points.

“The higher rate is intended to dampen pressure in the economy, which is important to avoid prices remaining high over a long period. Norges Bank has warned of more interest rate hikes to come, and customers who are concerned about their personal finances are asked to contact us for advice,” says Roger Lund Antonesen, Executive Vice President Retail Market.

SpareBank 1 SR-Bank’s new terms and conditions will come into effect from 27 September for new loans and from 8 November for existing loans. All mortgage customers will receive information via their online bank or a letter in the mail about how the change in interest rates will affect them.
