Visitors to the national Autosport event in January can try out racing simulator pods as well as get the chance of winning a fantastic Classic American Muscle V8 experience day – all in aid of charity.

The Fire Fighters Race Team (FFRT) aims to raise funds for the Fire Fighters Charity, which enhances the quality of life for serving and retired fire fighters, fire personnel and their families.

The FFRT will be at the Autosport event at the NEC Birmingham on January 11th – 12th to showcase their self built and bespoke 1978 classic Mini which will be used to compete in the SEMSEC race series starting in 2014.

Says Dave Franks, the Team Principal and operational Fire fighter at Herne Bay in Kent: “The build of our racing Mini is coming along nicely thanks to the kind support and sponsorship by many local businesses. The Autosport event will enable us to showcase the FFRT as well as give visitors an experience of a lifetime.

“Elite Virtual Racing are providing us with racing simulator pods, which are incredible. The person who completes a lap the fastest will win a fantastic Classic American Muscle V8 experience day with our friends at classicamericanmuscle.co.uk. It’s going to be a blast!”

About The FFRT:

The Fire Fighters Race Team is run by a small group of individuals who have the Fire Fighters Charity in their blood. Using a race car is at the Team’s heart, which has been built from the body and chassis of a 1978 Mini saloon.

The car will be used in events of many different types including fundraising activities, shows, hill climbs, sprints and into 2014 for the SEMSEC race series and invitational races for other Mini race clubs including Mini Sevens.

The car build is underway through the generosity of Sponsors and the teams own people donating money to the car. We are in need of both Sponsors for the car build and then donations also for the FireFighters Charity.
