Shahriare Mahmood joins Spinnova's Management Team

Sustainable textile material company Spinnova has appointed Shahriare Mahmood as Chief Sustainability Officer and member of the management team.

As Chief Sustainability Officer, Shahriare Mahmood will be responsible for Spinnova’s sustainability and textile development, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

Both textile development and ensuring sustainable supply chains are Mahmood’s area of expertise. As part of its strategy, Spinnova is developing both fibre and its own fabric made of the SPINNOVA® fibre, as well as applications with brand partners. The first commercial factory producing SPINNOVA® fibre is expected to begin production at the end of 2022.

- Mahmood’s appointment to the management team highlights the importance of sustainability in everything we do. As we take steps towards commercial production, Mahmood’s role will also entail developing full transparency of our value chain towards stakeholders, says Spinnova’s CEO and co-founder Janne Poranen.

Shahriare Mahmood joined Spinnova in August 2020 as Sustainability Director from the children’s wear brand Reima, where he held an R&D and Sustainability Director position. He holds both a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a Master of Engineering degree, and has both industrial, material R&D as well as quality and supply chain management experience in the textile industry. Mahmood also has a PhD in sustainability management.
