Coates & Partners Limited named best accountancy firm in the East Midlands
Ashbourne Chartered Accountants Coates & Partners Limited have been named Best Small Accountancy Firm in the East Midlands by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales. Coates & Partners received the award after judges deemed the Derbyshire firm to have made the most significant contribution to the economic prosperity of the East Midlands.
To prove that they were worthy winners, Coates & Partners demonstrated improvements and success made at the firm, the contribution made to the economic development of the region and Coates & Partners’ contribution to local residents.
Over the past twelve months Coates & Partners have enjoyed a very successful year despite facing a number of key challenges, most notably managing the smooth transition of clients following the retirement of a long-serving director and client retention is at an all-time high. Fundamental to the business are the highly valued staff and newly implemented procedures and working environments have resulted in a very harmonious working environment. This has also led to extended opening hours for clients and an increase in staffing with the appointment of a trainee. Looking to the future, the firm undertook the Growth Accelerator programme to plan future development and identify opportunities.
Coates & Partners make a significant contribution to local economic life and have a strong ethical approach to assist businesses to achieve their full capability. Start-up businesses benefit from a free initial consultation, which is often up to 3 hours, and for the first year a fixed quote is provided often at a reduced rate.
Over the last 12 months, local residents have benefited from Coates & Partners’ charity work. The team has undertaken various challenges from a long tandem bike ride to running the London Marathon with local residents enjoying the direct benefit of the fund raising. Other community assistance includes support for the care of a vulnerable local adult, taking on various roles as treasurer and accounts examiner for local not-for-profit organisations and financial and personnel support for Ashbourne Show. Coates & Partners also provide opportunities for the next generation of accountants. Each year around 5 weeks of work experience is set aside for students from local schools and colleges.
