The former MP for Loughborough, Andy Reed recently joined Sports Leaders UK as the Charity’s new advisor for parliamentary affairs. Elected the first Labour and Co-operative MP for the Loughborough constituency for 18 years, on 1 May 1997, and leaving parliament almost 13 years later on 12 April 2010, Andy Reed is the perfect candidate to aid Sports Leaders UK in its parliamentary activity and development of key strategic stakeholders. Andy’s passion and enthusiasm for sport, both playing and watching, and his involvement with a number of other Charities will no doubt prove to be of tremendous benefit to Sports Leaders UK and its work. During his appointment with Sports Leaders UK Andy will support the development of the Charity’s work through the public sector and link into the operational priorities of the organisation. Andy Reed said: “I am looking forward to working with this inspirational Charity. Leadership is an important part of education in schools, colleges, prisons and community centres across the UK. The awards and qualifications offered by Sports Leaders UK make a real difference to individuals and communities.” Chief Executive of Sports Leaders UK, Linda Plowright said: “Sports Leaders UK welcomes Andy Reed and is excited about the prospect of working with him on its political activities. Andy is respected by all who work with him and he will be a fantastic ambassador and advisor.” Note to editors: Sports Leaders UK is a Charity delivering sports leadership awards and qualifications to more than 200,000 people a year, through 4,000 schools, colleges, local authorities, prisons and young offender units.
