Partnership promotes employment opportunities for Sports Leaders

The National Youth Agency (NYA) and Sports Leaders UK are working in partnership to deliver a new resource that promotes training and employment opportunities in youth work for qualified Sports Leaders. The new section on the NYA website, which links to the Sports Leaders UK website, provides details on how Sports Leaders can continue their training to become a youth worker. Diane Evans, National Youth Agency programme manager for workforce, comments: “Working with Sports Leaders UK, we identified that many of the young people that take part in sports leadership would like to continue and train to be a youth worker, but are unsure as to what their options are once qualified. “The aim of the web pages is to make it easier for Sports Leaders and youth workers to gain access to information and career options within either field so that they can continue to develop within the profession.” Sports Leaders UK is a Charity delivering sports leadership awards and qualifications to more than 200,000 people a year, through 4,000 schools, colleges, local authorities, prisons, young offender units and community organisations. It acts as an Awarding Body providing nationally recognised qualifications. It has a Foundation to deliver free or subsidised courses in areas of greatest need and to give ongoing support to Sports Leaders to retain their active involvement in sport in the UK.
