CCTV deploys complete video transport solution from Nevion
Hundreds of Ventura fiber optic cards chosen to connect Chinese national broadcaster’s new building
Beijing, China, March 20, 2012 – Nevion, a leading provider of managed video services for broadcasters, service providers and government entities worldwide, has announced that China’s largest national broadcaster, China Central Television (CCTV), has implemented a complete fiber optic video transport solution based on Nevion’s Ventura product family for its new Television Cultural Center (TVCC) building in the center of Beijing.
Nevion worked closely with its Beijing distributor Seika to provide a solution that met CCTV’s stringent requirements. Following rigorous testing by CCTV of a number of different vendors’ solutions, Nevion’s Ventura solution was chosen as the complete video transport solution for the new building.
“The design philosophy and product quality of the Ventura solutions stood out from the competition,” said Hans Hasselbach, senior vice president of Asia Pacific sales at Nevion. “This is a very significant deal for Nevion not least because CCTV is one of the largest national broadcasters in the world. It demonstrates the faith that the world’s national broadcasters continue to have in the quality and reliability of our solutions as well as our optical video transport expertise.”
The solution consisted of hundreds of Ventura VS251-RC-SFP fiber optic transmitter/receiver/ transceiver cards and Ventura VS103 4RU chassis. The VS251-RC-SFP is a multi-function optical interface card that supports bit rates from 10Mbps to 1.5Gbps. It can be operated as a fiber transmitter, receiver, repeater or monitor for HD-SDI, SD-SDI, DVB-ASI and SMPTE-310 video.
The VS103 can be configured for up to 10 modules and is designed to meet the exacting requirements of the central office environment. All Ventura products feature NEBS Level 3 certification for operation in harsh environments and strictly adhere to ISO, SMPTE and DVB-ASI video standards for signal performance and integrity.
