Nevion to introduce new compression schemes at NAB
Enhanced industry-low latency JPEG 2000 and new H.264 compression support all signal formats

Broadcasters and service providers can now access artifact-free, near mathematically lossless compression—as low as 2:1 compression ratio for HD and SD video, a first for the industry—of HD-SDI/SD-SDI and 3G over Gigabit Ethernet with no blocking, tiling or motion dependence. The VS901 series supports all SD and HD formats at 270Mbps, 1485Mbps, and 1483.52Mbps and now 1080x2K with automatic signal detection and configurable packet buffer to accommodate network specific packet delay variations. The VS901 meets the exacting demands of live-event or delay-sensitive applications such as digital cinema, guaranteeing quality with minimal degradation through multiple encode/decode cycles.
For high quality, value-driven SD or HD-SDI video transport over bandwidth-limited infrastructures, Nevion’s new VS904/VS954 provides state-of-the-art H.264 compression with professional, high quality and configurable rates from 2-80Mbps. Nevion’s family of H.264 solutions extend from 4:2:0/8bit applications to the highest possible quality 4:2:2/10bit applications.
With new perfect protection switching and remote management over IP/Ethernet infrastructures, versatile VS904/VS954 modular encoders and decoders provide contribution-quality H.264 compression for IP networks as well as legacy infrastructures. Customers have a choice of IP or DVB-ASI network interfaces.
