SRV has been selected as the alliance partner of Senate Properties for the Vantaa Main Police Station and Vantaa Prison
SRV and Senate Properties have signed an agreement to implement the Vantaa Main Police Station and Vantaa Prison as a key alliance project. The agreement covers the implementation of the Vantaa Main Police Station and Vantaa Prison. The total value of the agreement is approximately EUR 86 million, of which SRV’s share is about EUR 78 million. The project will be recognised in SRV’s order backlog in stages during the summer and autumn. The procurement decision is in force.
Construction of the main police station is expected to begin in autumn 2022, and it should be completed by autumn 2024. Construction of the prison will begin in summer 2022 and is scheduled for completion in late 2023. The total area of the police station and prison will be about 19,800 square metres (gross).
“SRV has previously worked with Senate Properties on several demanding security-classified projects. This project also requires premises that are pleasant for employees and secure for customers. It’s also an excellent fit for our strategy. It’s important for SRV to choose sustainable and lifecycle-wise solutions in collaboration with our partners. The design, construction, maintenance and upkeep of both the police station and prison take sustainable development into account. Solutions must be based on overall economic efficiency, energy efficiency and a low environmental impact,” says Marko Räisänen, SRV’s Unit Director, Business Premises in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
Senate and SRV are working together to minimise any impact that current challenges in the construction industry may have on the project’s progress.
“As a method of implementation, a collaborative alliance model is an even better choice in this challenging economic climate. The client and the contractor shoulder the risks together, and also develop the project together in order to achieve its targets,” says Johanna Virsu, Construction Management Expert Group Manager, Senate Properties.
The project’s environmental and lifecycle targets have been set on the basis on Finnish national RTS Environmental Classification, which measures the environmental efficiency of construction. Its lifecycle objectives seek to steer design solutions and construction activities in a more sustainable direction, to ensure that the project is ecological and energy efficient, and results in a good indoor climate. The project is aiming for an RTS Environmental Classification of four stars, and the attainment of this target will be audited by an impartial body.
The premises are being designed and implemented so as to support modern working methods and meet operational needs in both the customer service premises and staff workspaces. Technological solutions will enable the premises to be flexibly adapted to meet future needs.
The East Uusimaa Police Department is one of 11 local police departments in Finland. It is responsible for maintaining public order and safety, preventing and investigating crimes, and providing police permit services (for example passports, driving licences and identity cards) within its operational area.
