SRV moves forward with Tapiola and Niittykumpu metro centres
SRV GROUP PLC STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 17 JUNE 2014
SRV is moving forward with the Tapiola and Niittykumpu metro centres. The Espoo City Board approved agreements relating to both projects on Monday, 16 June.
LähiTapiola and SRV will implement a project that will bring business premises and homes to Tapiola Centre. In the first phase, the companies plan to build a nearly 40,000 square metre commercial centre, which will house, for example, a Stockmann department store. The central block will incorporate the West Metro’s Tapiola metro station and a connecting bus terminal. When the complex is completed in 2018, the centre will become an important public transport hub.
The commercial centre is expected to be completed in spring 2017, after which the intention is to built three residential buildings above it. SRV has developed the project in cooperation with LähiTapiola and will act as the project management contractor. The estimated total cost of the first phase of the project is just over EUR 110 million. Construction will begin as soon as possible with civil engineering works.
The Espoo City Board also approved a cooperation agreement between SRV and SATO, the City of Espoo and the West Metro on the implementation of the Niittykumpu metro centre. Plans include the construction of a 6,500 square metre commercial centre on the south-west side of Merituulentie and Haukilahdenkatu, next to Niittykumpu metro station, and 12- and 24-storey residential towers.
