SRV to build new premises for the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority STUK
Senate Properties have chosen SRV to carry out the construction of new premises for the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority in Finland (STUK) in Jokiniemi, Vantaa. The construction work will start immediately and the new building is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021/beginning of 2022. The total value of the project management contract is approximately EUR 46 million, which will be recognised in SRV’s order backlog right away.
The total area of the new office building will be 12,700 m2 (gross). STUK will move in to its new premises during the summer of 2022. The requirements for the premises are particularly strict. In addition to office spaces that are suitable for demanding expert tasks, STUK will also need laboratories and facilities for emergency preparedness.
“We are excited to collaborate with Senate Properties again as we have done many demanding projects with them in the past. We will also be able to take full advantage of our expertise and our experiences with the Centre for Nuclear Safety, which was completed in Espoo in 2016,” says Unit Director Antti Raunemaa, SRV.
The new premises are STUK’s way of ensuring that it will be able to carry out its expert role in the future and develop its activities and working methods, while meeting the objectives of the Government Premises Strategy, which calls for more efficient use of space and use of multi-space environments.
“The new premises have been designed in close cooperation with the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority in order to maximise the way that the premises support the work done at STUK. The project management contract with SRV also enables developing together the plans and solutions from the users’ perspective during the implementation phase”, says Head of the construction team Matti-Pekka Jalonen, Senate Properties.
