The City Planning Committee decided to continue planning work for Tellus Towers

On January 31, the Stockholm City Planning Committee decided to continue planning work to develop 1,500 homes at Telefonplan including homes in the skyscrapers of SSM’s Tellus Towers project. Tellus Towers is an important part of a greater vision and investment in the Telefonplan area that includes covering the subway station and constructing new station buildings. Some 18,000 people have already shown interest in Tellus Towers, which will offer 1,200 homes with various types of tenancy. A city plan is expected to be adopted in Q4 2020.

The two towers of Tellus Towers will be 58 and 78 stories high and offer 1,200 affordable homes. They will include rental units, cooperative apartments and condominiums as well as a hotel with a sky bar and visitors’ center offering services for the public. The homes in Tellus Towers will feature a unique design based on a multi-use of space concept with moveable walls that allow tenants to adapt their living based on their activities and needs.

- Tellus Towers is an important part of a larger vision and focus on the area to the south of the city. Many creative, young companies and institutions such as Hyper Island and the Konstfack University College of Arts and Design have already established themselves in the area. Tellus Towers will help make Telefonplan into an even more vibrant meeting place with a look and feel distinct from the inner city, says Mattias Roos, President & CEO of SSM.

The towers, which have been designed by architect Gert Wingårdh, resemble two spires and their majestic proportions will add a modern touch to the urban landscape south of the city.

Tellus Towers will add homes near communications and the subway to the Stockholm housing landscape. Building high will also make optimal use of available land. The project is based on developing the area and adding housing and other functions with a minimal increase in car traffic. For this reason, a car pool and bike pool will be available in the project.

The consultation for the city plan will take place between Q3 and Q4 2019 with a subsequent review period until the plan can be adopted in Q4 2020.

The project is being run as a joint venture between SSM and Partners Group, a global private markets investment manager.
