AWARD-WINNING CAMDEN FOOD CO. HAS EXPANDED TO GEORGE BUSH INTERCONTINENTAL AIRPORT
SSP America introduces a taste of the Texas region to IAH with Camden food co.
Lansdowne, VA, August 20, 2012: SSP America, the North American division of SSP, the leading operator of food and beverage brands in travel locations worldwide, is delighted to announce the opening of Camden food co. at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Terminal C.
George Bush Intercontinental Airport is the seventh busiest airport in the United States, serving the fifth most populated city in the nation. IAH is the largest hub for United Airlines with more than 700 daily departures. In 2006, it was named the fastest growing of the top ten airports in the United States with more than 40.4 million passengers travelling through the airport in 2010.
“We are pleased to partner with SSP America on another innovative concept. The Camden food co. market is a great addition to our concessions program and will continue to enrich our travelers’ overall experiences,” commented Randy Goodman, Houston Airport System’s general manager of concessions.
Stepping into Camden food co., travelers will immediately feel the comfort and nostalgia of an old farm with its reclaimed and salvaged wood, bringing rich texture and warm ambience to this unassuming space. The modern, mixed media graphics, burnished elements and the integration of environmental graphics throughout the space speak to the authenticity of the brand. Rich earth tones, rustic metal, stone mosaic wall tiles as well as rural-inspired lighting and accents create a warm and inviting atmosphere that lend to the comforts of home. Use of energy efficient dimmable lighting, non-toxic, low VOC paints and food served in earth friendlier containers and cups all underscore Camden food co.’s commitment to having a minimal impact on the environment.
Winner of ARN’s 2010 “Best New Food & Beverage Concept” and “Best Airport Restaurant Design”, Camden food co. is the traveler’s haven for healthy eating. At IAH, Camden food co. has taken its ever-present ethos of using the freshest possible foods. SSP America has partnered with premium growers and specialty food artisans to bring travelers a market laden with products that are packed with the wholesome nourishment consumers are looking for. Garden fresh veggies offer a colorful spread within Camden food co.’s salad bar, providing an endless variety for a traveler to create their own salad. Customers can sip on locally roasted, organic, Fair trade cappuccinos and lattes courtesy of Camden food co.’s partnership with JAVA PURA, named “Best Coffee Roaster” by the Houston Press.
Les Cappetta, President and CEO of SSP America, commented, “At SSP, we strive to provide our customers with a wide range of choices that reflect their needs. We’ve found that travelers ask for fresh, local, wholesome options to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle – even when they travel. Our award-winning Camden food co. is the perfect fit and we’re proud to be bringing that option to the travelers of IAH’s Terminal C.”
Camden food co. can also be found at Toronto Pearson, Vancouver International, Indianapolis International, Raleigh-Durham International, Sacramento International and, also coming in 2013, San Diego International Airport.

About Camden food co.
SSP’s own, award winning Camden food co. premiered in the UK 12 years ago where it was already ahead of the game, delivering organic, Fairtrade and freshly made sandwiches and salads to the demanding consumers of British Rail stations. In 2007, Camden won the British Sandwich Association’s “En-route Sandwich Retailer of the Year”, quite an honor, coming from the country that brought us the 4th Earl of Sandwich and his bread and meat creation now known the world over. With SSP’s introduction of Camden to North American airports in 2008, the brand evolved to a much needed market-style shop giving travelers even more healthy food and beverage options. In 2010, Camden was awarded ARN’s “Best New Food & Beverage Concept” and “Best Airport Restaurant Design”.
