SSP America to introduce two new restaurants to the Colorado Springs Airport as it completes the first half of transforming the entire guest experience

Lansdowne, VA, September 19, 2012:  SSP America, the North American division of SSP, the leading operator of food and beverage brands in travel locations worldwide, is delighted to announce today its partnership with local brands Novo Coffee and Bristol Brewing Company at the Colorado Springs Airport.  COS passengers will be able to sample the region’s flavors without leaving the airport with the opening of the new coffee shop and full-service brewpub and restaurant later this year.

The Colorado Springs Airport serves more than 2 million passengers each year in its 12-gate, 280,000 square-foot terminal.  The airport handles approximately 90 arrivals and departures each day and is served by five airlines. COS offers free Wi-Fi internet access as an amenity throughout the entire passenger terminal.

“Over the past several years, we have worked to create an atmosphere in our terminal building that is inviting and more representative of Colorado and the Pikes Peak region,” said Mark Earle, Director of Aviation. “Through our partnership with SSP America, we are bringing recognized regional brands that will give our customers a greater sense of what we are all about.”

Novo Coffee is a Denver-based, family-owned and operated roasting company with a commitment to sourcing and roasting some of the world’s most flavorful coffees. These coffees are purchased primarily through long-term relationships with farmers who share in Novo’s pursuit of the highest quality coffees along with strong commitments to social, environmental, and economic sustainability. Roasting is done in small batches and profiled in a way to ensure that the inherent flavors in each coffee are brought to the forefront, as are their differences based on origin, terroir, processing method, variety, and other factors.

Founded in Colorado Springs in 1994 by Mike and Amanda Bristol, Bristol Brewing Company brews fresh, distinctive beers for the people of Colorado.  From multi-award winning Laughing Lab Scottish Ale to local favorites Compass IPA and Beehive Honey Wheat, to a slew of standard, seasonal and specialty beers, the quality and flavor of the beer drives everything at Bristol. Well-known for their community involvement, Bristol’s Community Ales program generates tens of thousands of dollars for worthy local causes annually. Bristol beers are available on draught and in six packs across the state.

“We are proud to be partnering with these iconic, family-owned Colorado brands,” commented Tom Waldron, Senior Director of Business Development for SSP America.  “They exemplify community involvement and we are excited to showcase them to passengers at the Colorado Springs Airport.”

The new restaurants are due to arrive winter 2012.
