SSP adds another Bartolotta Restaurant to the lineup at MKE

Lansdowne, VA, February 23, 2012: SSP America, the North American division of SSP, the leading operator of food and beverage brands in travel locations worldwide, is proud to announce the opening of Pizzeria Piccola in General Mitchell International Airport. The 1479 square foot restaurant has joined the two other Bartolotta Group concepts in serving the 4 million passengers traveling through Concourse C annually.

Trying to capture the essence of an authentic, Italian, Neapolitan-style pizzeria in a contemporary airport terminal isn’t an easy task, but Pizzeria Piccola in Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport (MKE) has successfully risen to the challenge. When SSP America sought to create a place of refuge within the airport, it landed on the traditional style of the Bartolotta Restaurant Group’s existing restaurant concept, Pizzeria Piccola. Its glowing, fired oven serves as a beacon to harried travelers, and creates a gathering spot where the vacationer and business traveler alike feel comfortable.

“We are thrilled to continue to build our partnership with The Bartolotta Group and General Mitchell Airport to provide authentic cuisine that accurately portrays the taste of Milwaukee to our traveling customers, commented SSP America’s President & CEO, Les Cappetta. “Pizzeria Piccola will serve as a great addition to our existing restaurants.”

Truly authentic thin-crust Neapolitan pizzas are made-to-order with hand-rolled dough and fresh toppings, and then baked to perfection in the oven before being delivered tableside to guests. The restaurant has a simple, timeless interior that highlights the key elements of the existing locale, with warm woods, authentic Cream City brick walls, café curtains, schoolhouse lighting, and traditional furnishings.

Joe Bartolotta, President & Owner of The Bartolotta Restaurants commented, “We are excited to open a third Bartolotta venue at Mitchell International Airport and hope our venues provide a positive message and experience for travelers coming in to the city of Milwaukee.  Additionally, we are proud to have a strong partnership between Milwaukee County and SSP America.”

Pizzeria Piccola is located in Concourse C.
