Morgan Tsvangirai visits the IUSY FESTIVAL 2000. The leader of the opposition in Zimbabwe - The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). Morgan Tsvangirai will visit Sweden and the IUSY FESTIVAL 2000 on the 27/7-31/7. A press conference will be held on Friday 28/7 at 2.30 pm. Morgan Tsvangirai is invited by the International Center of Olof Palme and will speak at the now ongoing social democratic youth festival in Malmo, Sweden. The festival, which is arranged by IUSY (International Union of Socialist Youth) and SSU (Swedish Social Democratic Youth). A meeting with Swedish prime minister Goran Persson is also scheduled. The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) succeeded despite extensive harassment by the ZANU-PF, Which is lead by Robert Mugabe, to win 57 seats in the parlament of Zimbabwe. MDC is a party that has only existed in 10 months and has its core in the labour union. The party opposes the violent occupations of land that has been carried out by the so called war veterans with support of the government. Morgan Tsvangirai will most likely run for presidency in Zimbabwe 2002.
