Sir James Galway will give a rare London appearance at St Martin-in-the-Fields this month.

St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, hosts an evening with instrumental royalty when “the man with the golden flute” Sir James Galway and Lady Galway return for an all Bach programme on Tuesday 25 January 2011, 7.30pm. St Martin’s is well-known for its exceedingly high standard performances of Baroque and Early Classical repertoire and is pleased to welcome back the most influential flautist of our time, performing a concert of music by Bach with the Brandenburg Sinfonia. Galway has delighted audiences for over thirty-five years with his virtuosity, and has performed with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors. He has inspired countless musicians and is one of the most recorded classical artists performing today. He has toured around the world, made frequent international television appearances and has sold over thirty million albums. Galway is a modern musical master, whose virtuosity on the flute is equalled only by his limitless ambition and vision. The exquisite acoustic at St Martin-in-the-Fields makes it the perfect venue to enjoy the Brandenburg Concertos, widely regarded as among the finest musical compositions of the Baroque era.
