Local students golden opportunity to visit Staffordshire University Clearing Hub
Sixth form and college leavers are being invited to Staffordshire University’s Clearing hub on results day (Thursday 18 August) to celebrate their achievements and consider their next steps.
Students from City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth form, Stoke-on-Trent College and Newcastle College will be handed a golden ticket which invites them along to the University’s Catalyst building on Leek Road for free food, entertainment and advice on a wide range of courses.
Executive Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions, Sapreena Kumari said: “This is an open invite to anyone who receives their results. It may be that they’ve already accepted their place at their chosen University in which case this is simply an opportunity to celebrate their achievements with friends.
“However, it is also an opportunity for students and their families who are less certain about where they want to go in future and what course options are available to them. Either way, we offer a warm and friendly welcome to anyone in receipt of their results or who may be considering University for the first time.”
Open from 8am – 3pm on Thursday 18 August, experts will be available to guide students through the process of applying to University through Clearing and visitors can talk to staff about the courses available or to one of the University’s Careers advisors. Entertainment will be provided by Students' Union radio station OMG.
As well as being a great way to view the University’s facilities, visitors can also have a go on the 360 selfie booth, have a bite to eat and enjoy a complimentary cupcake in the University’s new Catalyst building
Sapreena added: “This is an opportunity for students and their families to come onto campus, possibly for the first time. And if all goes well, they could leave with an offer of a place to start in September.
“Alternatively, our Clearing Hotline is open until 9pm on results day and our website features an offer calculator generator which allows students to choose their course and enter their grades to receive an instant decision on whether they can get a place at Staffordshire through Clearing.”
The University is also encouraging prospective students to find out more about its courses and facilities by booking on to the Open Day taking place on the Stoke-on-Trent campus on Saturday 20 August from 9.30am – 3.00pm.
