World-class sommeliers to celebrate Danish wine lists

The international wine list competition Star Wine List of the Year comes to Denmark for the first time. It will be held 1 September, with the Danish Sommelier Championship in Copenhagen. All Danish wine bars and restaurants are welcome to participate.

”We have had demand from many countries to celebrate their wine lists. Now we are thrilled to plan for a Global tour of events and to come to Denmark for the first time!” says Krister Bengtsson, founder and publisher of Stockholm-based Star Wine List.

Star Wine List of the Year is the wine list competition run by Star Wine List, the award-winning guide to great wine bars and wine restaurants present in over 20 countries. With a jury of some of the world's best sommeliers, such as Arvid Rosengren and Marc Almert, national competition events will be held in a dozen countries around the world over the coming year. Denmark will be one of the first events on the tour.  

”We are truly happy to welcome Star Wine List of the Year to our event, and have even more focus on Danish sommeliers and wine lists in the World,” says Christian Thorsholt Jacobsen, Board Member at the Danish Sommelier Association and restaurateur at Anarki in Copenhagen.

The deadline for entry into the competition is 23 July and it is free of charge. All info and rules can be found on www.starwinelist.com. 

Winners in each country will be invited to the Global Star Wine List of the Year Final in Vienna in May 2021. And there, the best wine lists in the world will be crowned.Moreover, the winners of the category Best Austrian Wine List in each country will get an all-inclusive trip to Vienna for the Global Final and Vievinum in May 2021, hosted by Austrian Wine.
