Stena Line sees bookings rise as Christmas rush kicks in

LEADING ferry company Stena Line is experiencing a ferry busy Christmas period as people make last minute bookings to travel home to Northern Ireland for the festive season.

With many of its sailings across all routes already at full capacity, the company is urging people to organise their Christmas and New Year travel as soon as possible.

From December 20th – January 5th inclusive, almost 113,000 passengers and 38,000 cars will travel with Stena Line on the Irish Sea with almost 60,000 of these passengers and over 16,000 cars travelling from Cairnryan or Liverpool to Belfast.

Stena Line’s Head of PR and Communications, Diane Poole OBE, is delighted with the busy festive period.

“Christmas is always a busy time of year for Stena Line and this year is no exception. We are especially busy this Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd December, particularly from Cairnryan and Liverpool travelling into Belfast.  Some sailings are full, but there is still availability for those who haven’t yet booked, with sailings every day except Christmas Day for all routes and none on Boxing Day for Liverpool,” said Diane.

“One of the main reasons for the popularity of the Christmas sailings is that travelling by car allows people the luxury of packing all their presents into the boot at no extra cost.  We have also experienced a surge in our online bookings as more people book travel from the convenience of their own home, where they know they can get the best fares available,” she continued.

“If you don’t have any plans for News Year’s Eve it’s not too late to book your travel as we still have availability. You could welcome in 2013 in style with Hogmanay in Edinburgh or Glasgow or pop across to Liverpool to enjoy the city’s fantastic shopping in the New Year sales,” Diane added.

As the market leader between Ireland and Britain, Stena Line offers a fantastic choice of routes, including Belfast to Cairnryan, Belfast to Liverpool, Dublin Port and Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead and Rosslare to Fishguard.
