The Tour de France will be racing through the stunning Yorkshire landscape for the very first time this year and leading ferry company Stena Line is on hand to ensure that cycling enthusiasts can travel to experience the spectacle in style and at great value.

The Giro d’Italia has left a legacy of  passionate cycling fans in Northern Ireland and with prices starting from only £30* per person return, Stena Line is offering customers the chance to witness another world renowned cycling event.

Enthusiasts can sail from either Belfast to Liverpool or Cairnryan where they can then make their way to Leeds where the Tour de France Grand Départ will begin on July 5th.  The Grand Départ will start in Leeds with a sprint to Harrogate, then move on to York on July 6th and finish in Sheffield before moving on to Cambridge on  July 7th.

As well as experiencing the Tour de France, customers can also turn their trip into a short break or long weekend where they can take in all that Yorkshire and the surrounding areas have to offer.

Diane Poole OBE, Head of PR and Communications for Stena Line, said:

“The Giro d’Italia was an amazing experience for the people of Northern Ireland and now they have another great chance to attend what is arguably the most famous cycling race in the world.  As well as experiencing the race, holiday makers can visit the many tourist spots which are dotted around Yorkshire such as Castle Howard and Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

“There is also the opportunity to visit some of Yorkshire’s seven cities which include Leeds, Sheffield, Wakefield, Hull, York, Bradford & Ripon.  Whether you are going to watch the start of the Tour de France with a group of friends or with family, there really is something for everyone to ensure your long break is lots of fun,” said Diane.

“Travelling with Stena Line means travelling in style as we have some very comfortable areas to relax in, great meal deals and delicious dining options.  Customers can stay in touch while they travel using our free Wi-Fi and complimentary use of iPads. Plus our onboard shop offers up to 50% savings compared to the high street so people can enjoy a bit of retail therapy as well,” Diane added.
