Ferry Company Serves Belfast Made Brew on Board

Leading ferry company, Stena Line, have ‘tea-med’ up with Belfast based company Suki Tea to make sure passengers have the perfect cuppa when travelling across the Irish Sea.

The company, who make ethical sourcing a priority, started at a small Farmer’s Market in Belfast in March 2005. Suki Tea aims to provide the finest loose leaf tea, herbal infusions and fruit blends from around the world without compromising quality and freshness.

Stephen Bryden, Stena Line’s Head of Onboard Services for the Belfast – Cairnryan route, discovered the tea through a colleague’s recommendation. He said,

“When our Food and Beverage Supervisor, Robert Savage, first introduced me to Suki Tea, we saw it as an opportunity to promote local business as well as add to the existing range of high quality, locally sourced beverages available onboard our ships.

“Customers are already enjoying the combination of beautifully-styled branded loose leaf teapot and carved bamboo tray and with this elevated tea retailing at the same price as a latte, it’s the perfect package to a perfect cuppa.”

Oscar Wooley of Suki Tea enjoys dealing with partners who appreciate what it means to upgrade their tea offering.

“We have had numerous thanks from existing Suki Tea customers who have travelled on Stena Line for providing them with a great cup of tea onboard,” he said.  “I’m delighted that Robert, a Suki Tea fan and employee of Stena Line suggested it.  It seems very apt as we have many loyal customers in both Scotland and Northern Ireland.”

In conjunction with their distribution partner, Espresso Warehouse, who open doors for small companies in the hospitality sector, Stena Line offers six flavours of Suki Tea; Red Berry, Whole Peppermint, Organic Green Tea, Apple Loves Mint, Lemon Grass and Ginger and Belfast Brew.

Suki retails at £2.50 per pot and is now available from Barista coffee Houses on-board all five Stena Line routes on the Irish Sea.
