NORTHERN Ireland’s leading ferry company is giving holidaymakers the chance to save up to £400* when travelling to Europe this summer.

In a price comparison carried out by Stena Line for a family of four going on holiday to Disneyland Paris, customers can travel from Belfast to Cairnryan and onward from Dover to Calais for only £414 with no baggage restrictions or excess charges, compared to £657.24 charged by a major airline from Belfast to Paris with an additional £94.32 baggage charges for luggage.  Further savings can be made by customers travelling by ferry as they will have no airport parking, check-in charges or car hire.*

Diane Poole OBE, Stena Line’s Head of PR and Communications, believes taking the car to Europe this summer is the best way to travel as people can save money and make their holiday their own.

“In recent years, more and more people are seeing the benefits of taking their car on holiday with them. We recently carried out a price comparison and found out that people who travel with us to Europe using our Landbridge fare can save up to £400* compared to people who fly, which goes a long way when paying for the rest of the holiday. The price difference is no surprise really when you consider the additional charges that soon mount up when flying such as baggage charges, check-in charges, airport parking and car hire.

“Taking the car provides you with the flexibility of designing your own holiday as you can explore Europe at your leisure, stopping off when and where you choose. It’s the perfect way for families to travel as children don’t have to be strapped in for long periods of time as they can make the most of the excellent onboard facilities which includes children’s play areas, free onboard movies, free wi-fi and not to be left out, adults can relax in one of our restaurants or bars.

“Starting from only £95* single for a car and driver, Stena Line’s Landbridge fare provides Northern Ireland holidaymakers with their own route to Europe in just two easy crossings offering them hundreds of fantastic holiday destinations to choose from,” Diane concluded.

With Stena Line’s wide route network, customers can choose to travel from Belfast to Cairnryan, Belfast to Liverpool, Dublin Port to Holyhead, Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead (seasonal service running 22 March – 10 September), Rosslare to Fishguard, and onward to France, Germany, Holland, Spain and Denmark.
