Respected travel bible, The Rough Guide, has named Liverpool and Glasgow as two of the world’s top ten most exciting cities to visit in 2014.  Liverpool was described by the guide as having recently experienced a ‘full blown cultural renaissance’ whilst the city of Glasgow was highlighted as a ‘cultural powerhouse’

This is good news for holidaymakers planning a trip to the third placed, Liverpool or ninth placed, Glasgow as ferry company, Stena Line, who sail from Belfast to both cities, has just announced their great-value 2014 fares.

Stena Line’s Head of PR and Communications, Diane Poole OBE said:  “The City of Liverpool has hundreds of unique happenings and fun events planned throughout the year like the International Jazz Festival in February; the Rock n Roll Marathon Festival in May and the Everyman Theatre, which opens in May, has a wide-ranging programme of acclaimed and adventurous theatre planned.

“And this is a land-mark year for Glasgow who will host the Commonwealth Games, described as‘Scotland’s biggest ever party’ featuring a spectacular display of world-class sporting talent.  Other events like the Glasgow Film Festival and International Comedy Festival are highlights in what will be a stand-out year for the City.”

Diane continued: “Liverpool and Glasgow are exciting cities which are culturally rich and bursting at the seams with things to see and do from vibrant nightlife and entertainment to museums and the arts.  Northern Ireland holidaymakers do not need to look outside the UK for interesting cities to visit as they have two of the world’s best, right on their doorstep and just a short trip across the Irish Sea.

“We already offer the best choice of routes and sailing times on the Irish sea and this year if people book online and at least 60 days in advance they can take advantage of our fantastic lead-in fare starting from just £69* single for car and driver – even more reason to book a city break for 2014.”
