News for the Plastics & Rubber Industry

Erie, PA---Eriez® offers a full line of metal separators for the plastics and rubber industry, including the state-of-the art Model CFP Metal Separator. Installed directly above the material feed throat of an extruder, injection molding or blow molding machine, this unit offers high sensitivity to all metal types.

The Model CFP Metal Separator is extremely compact. Its convenient, space-saving design enables successful operation with all conveying systems, especially vacuum conveyors.

“Even the smallest metal particles in molten plastic can plug nozzles and valve gates, causing damage to extruders, injection and blow molding machinery,” explains John Collins, Eriez Plastics and PolyMag®Manager. “Costs incurred due to lost productivity, delivery delays and expensive repairs can mount up quickly. Considering that the cost of repairing damaged screws and barrels brought about by just one larger piece of metal is far greater than the price of a Model CFP Metal Separator, this is an investment that pays for itself.”

Eriez’ patented reject mechanism ensures effective and reliable removal of contaminants. There is very little risk of jamming, even with high proportions of regrind. Metal contaminants are removed by means of a separating slide and a Venturi nozzle via a flexible hose into a reject material container.

Model CFP Metal Separators are available in the following standard widths: 1.18 in. (30 mm), 1.57 in. (40 mm), 1.97 in. (50 mm), 2.36 in. (60 mm). For more information, visit http://eriez.com/Markets/Index/Cfpmetalseparator.
