Erie, Pa.—Eriez® announces that its Metalarm™ MA3600 Metal Detectors, carrying the Hawk™ and Eagle™ brand names, have recently received CSA International approval. The certification verifies the MA3600 has been evaluated by a formal process involving examination, testing and follow-up inspection and complies with applicable standards for safety and performance.

CSA International is accredited in the U.S. by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), and in Canada by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).

The Metalarm Hawk and Eagle models are rugged metal detectors ideally suited for quarries and mines, as well as plastic and rubber facilities. These metal detectors use pulse induction technology that offers balance coil detection sensitivity and performance. This higher detection sensitivity ensures that even the smallest problematic tramp metal can be detected, thus providing better protection for crushers, granulators, screens and conveyor belts.

The Hawk coil is typically used in applications where larger tramp metal is to be detected, and is designed for use on steel corded belts. The ferrous sensitivity is equal to approximately five percent of the aperture height; less sensitive settings are available upon request. The Eagle is used where higher sensitivities are required, and is capable of detecting a ferrous sphere equal to two percent of the aperture height.

Both the Hawk and Eagle models are microprocessor-based with self diagnostics and fault indication. The standard unit features variable operating frequency to better suit different applications and sensitivities.

All coils are manufactured in High Density Polyethylene and are fully screened to comply with EU ‘EMC’ regulations. The Hawk and Eagle Metalarm Metal Detectors are simple to install and are furnished with a Model 3600 control. During installation, there is no need to cut the conveyor belt, so production is not interrupted.

The control unit is supplied with a stainless steel enclosure (IP 66 Rated) with an anti-condensation heater. This control can be equipped with an exterior alarm, beacon and belt clip detector.
