Ravenna, OH, August 10, 2012 — My LifePlan® has been issued U.S. Patent No. 8,234,125 – Healthcare Data Management, which safeguards MLP’s proprietary technology that makes critical health and personal information available to any emergency care providers and caregivers on any communication device via the web. This patent complements the company's substantial domestic and international intellectual property (IP) portfolio.

Founded in 2007, MLP delivers the necessary infrastructure and IP portfolio to integrate biometric and web-based systems, methods and business processes for secure and convenient access to any emergency electronic records. Using MLP‘s solutions, emergency electronic records can be accessed by first responders, dispatchers or any caregiver needing access to individual’s records during a mission critical time. The systems and methods allow for these records to be shared on traditional computers or mobile devices over any platform.

MLP is offering an ideal solution for providing timely and detailed health and personal information data flow for disaster relief. Emergency/personal information can be shared in a timely manner using any device, quickly connecting healthcare providers with an individual’s vital information.

According to the latest Annual Disaster Statistical Review, there were a total of 385 natural disasters in 2010 alone, with associated casualties surpassing 297,000 people.

The new technology enables first responders to identify and verify the person needing care and enables for quick access to the victim’s medical information at a time when that person might be incoherent or unable to communicate. The system is intended to help save lives and give family members peace of mind in times of an emergency or large-scale disaster.

MLP is fortunate to be offering its patented services and technologies with the support of BIO-key International, Inc. (OTCBB: BKYI) a leading developer of fingerprint biometric solutions. BIO-key’s technology protects access to the electronic health records at leading clinics, blood centers and hospitals providing strong authentication, compliance and convenience. BIO-key was selected as MLP’s biometric partner because their software is interoperable and operates on any platform, device or fingerprint reader. The company’s scalable solutions allow us to offer customers a universal authentication solution that can serve their needs today and as they grow in the future. Considering Apple’s commitment to fingerprint technology, MLP felt it was vital to align with a global leader in the fingerprint biometric technology space and BIO-key certainly fills that role.

“We are now able to condense and optimize workflow enabling users to collect efficiently and transmit critical information rapidly in times of an emergency or large-scale disaster,” stated Ruth Skocic, Founder & CEO of My LifePlan. “MLP integrates the latest biometric technology and web-based access for retrieval and dissemination of critical information such as critical health information, medications, allergies and emergency contacts for sharing with caregivers of any kind when every second counts. We elected to combine biometric technology and web-based systems to provide the highest level of security and convenience to end users. Recent activities within the market point to biometrics as the preferred method for authentication moving forward and incorporating fingerprint technology allows us to streamline a crucial process at a critical time,” added Skocic.

MLP also built a similar solution for pets, pet owners and pet caregivers. Pets are often disconnected with their owners during times of a disaster. Having access to pets’ medical history allows for ideal treatment and response.

"Protecting our intellectual property is critical as we continue to commercialize information systems, methods and business processes with our strategic partners," said Skocic. “We will continue our vigorous pursuit of patents to protect this underlying technology, both domestically and internationally. MLP has and will continue to license select partners for the right to utilize the technology already in place, according to Skocic.

“We developed this technology and service offering for public health, public safety, healthcare, and the individual. We truly have built a win-win system for all,” Skocic said.
