Stevens Strategic Communications Solidifies Future with Key Management Moves

Ed Stevens Named Chairman and CEO; David Walker Appointed President

Cleveland, OH—(October 22, 2013) With an eye on growing the firm and providing clients with new services required to interface with the millennial generation, Stevens Strategic Communications (SSC) announces two important moves, according to Edward M. Stevens, APR, majority owner.

“I will be taking the title of Chairman and CEO,” said Stevens, “I’m continuing to head all operations and bottom-line results.  David Walker, who for the past 18 months has served as SSC Vice President of Interactive, is now President of SSC.  In his new role, David will focus on growing SSC’s social media, video and online marketing business.  New business development activities will be his responsibility as well.  We will continue to offer a traditional public relations toolbox as well as quality crisis and b2b communications, which are other growth areas for the firm.”

“We are well prepared for future growth,” Stevens continued.  “We recognize the speed of technology will only increase.  The mobile space, social platforms and web-based video are part of our everyday lexicon now.  With David’s interactive and online marketing background, we can offer our clients the type of results-oriented programs we’re known for producing.  He has also had a hand with our crisis communications tactics.”

Walker has 25 years of broad-based agency experience, having served as magazine editor, copywriter, video producer, creative director and director of interactive.  “Along the way I’ve had the opportunity to work with some phenomenal clients and individuals,” said Walker.  “I’ve handled innovative projects for clients such as Smithsonian Institute, Clairol, Sherwin Williams, American Greetings, Arnold Palmer and Shaquille O’Neal, to name a few.  What I’m most excited about is the future of Stevens Strategic Communications.  The past two years have been years of growth and reinvention.  In fact, I am on a path to become APR-certified by PRSA.”

Over the past 24 months, SSC has committed significant resources to enhance its social media, video and interactive capabilities.  “While several of our account executives were well-versed in social media, we thought it was important to hire a full-time social media strategist.  In early 2012, we did that and the discipline continues to thrive,” said Walker.

SSC also bolstered its video production department.  “With the explosion of YouTube and the demand for online video, we wanted to offer our clients full-service professional video production services.  We recently built a new client editing suite and upgraded our camera equipment and production gear.  Now we’re shooting with a Canon DSLR, LED lights, Sennheiser microphones—all the bells and whistles for a great finished product.  We’re creating some really nice video for clients such as AmTrust Financial, Medical Mutual and global X,” said Walker.
