Stewart Garden expands product appeal with new colours 40% of keen Gardeners under 35 want Pink

Stewart Garden, the gardening products division of UK manufacturer, Stewart, has expanded its pots and planters ranges with the addition of new colours.

Primary research, conducted by Stewart Garden, shows that 88% of keen gardeners under 35 grow fruit, vegetables and other plants from seeds or bulbs in propagators, pots or hanging baskets. The study also showed that 40% of keen gardeners under 35 would like to see more pink gardening products compared to just 28% of keen gardeners under 35 wanting green, a more traditional gardening colour.

With options including magenta, lime and red, Stewart Garden is leading the colour revolution in a market sector that until recently was characterised by green and terracotta.

Global colour specialist Pantone, meanwhile, states that colour can define a space and set the mood.

Stewart Garden’s new pots and planters are designed for customers looking to modernise their gardens and develop a colourful outdoor space. This means creating colour with the pots themselves as well as the plants growing within them.

Nigel Thompson, Sales Director at Stewart, said, “Clearly, there is a market for brightly coloured pots and planters. Our expanded range will help retailers capture the imagination of customers and open up new possibilities for consumers who want to break free from traditional garden colour schemes. Building on Stewart Garden’s excellent credentials in the traditional gardening sector, this new development also demonstrates our commitment to the younger gardener.”

Stewart Garden’s grow your own products include watering, pots, propagators and garden accessories and sundries. They are available in over 1,600 outlets across the UK and Eire including major DIY outlets such as Homebase and Wilkinson and garden centres including Dobbies and Klondyke/Strikes, The Garden Centre Group and more than 600 independent garden centres.
