Lisa Bolin, Climate Lead at Polestar, has today joined the board of Swedish electromobility and technology startup STILRIDE.

STILRIDE is best known for its origami-inspired approach to electric vehicle design and manufacturing. STILRIDE’s patented technology, called STILFOLD, involves the use of robotic arms to fold steel over curves to build light and strong structures using minimal component parts.

The technology is currently being used to build STILRIDE’s first light electric motorcycle, the STILRIDE 1. STILRIDE is also working with Polestar to build the world’s first climate neutral car.

Polestar’s Climate Lead Lisa Bolin will now join STILRIDE’s board to help further their mission of becoming the leading global player in sustainable advanced manufacturing and electromobility innovation. As a member of the board, Lisa will play a critical role in helping STILRIDE reshape the future of sustainable vehicle production, identifying opportunities for the team to implement and scale its “industrial origami” technology across the automotive sector and beyond.

Lisa will also support STILRIDE to bring the STILRIDE 1 to the mass market following a successful limited launch of the “Founders Edition” motorcycle earlier this year.

Lisa Bolin comments:

"It feels natural to support the journey STILRIDE has embarked upon. They have a foundational philosophy about sustainable future production that is not only close to my heart but also an obvious and necessary direction for all types of companies.”

Lisa will bring many years’ experience in innovation, sustainability and research to STILRIDE. Lisa has held positions at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and at manufacturing company Nouryon where she was Sustainability Specialist.

Lisa is joining STILRIDE’s board as the company ramps up production of its “Founders Edition” motorcycles for delivery in 2024.

STILRIDE’s CEO and co-founder Jonas Nyvang comments:

"Our goal is to revolutionize the automotive industry. We want to transform ways vehicles are produced, as well as the materials used to build them. STILFOLD has a central role to play in creating a considerably more sustainable life cycle for all types of vehicles. Our technology is the missing link in the production chain. We can make a huge difference, and soon our technology will also work on many different materials, not just steel. We’re excited to have Lisa join us on this journey to contribute unique knowledge that will be essential if we are to succeed all the way.”

STILRIDE is a Swedish technology and design company that will soon launch its first product, the electric motorcycle STILRIDE 1. STILRIDE 1 is also the first product to take advantage of the company's own and unique manufacturing process STILFOLD, where an origami-style process is utilized to shape advanced constructions from sheets of steel. The process not only creates extremely durable constructions, but also enables environmentally friendly and local production. STILRIDE was founded in 2020 by Tue Beijer and Jonas Nyvang.
