In a joint statement India and Sweden asserted that tackling emissions-intensive industry challenges requires partnerships between industry frontrunners and countries that have the ambition to align their industrial development with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

The new partnership between India and Sweden will strengthen cooperation on low-carbon industrial transition and support India’s transition priorities through a coordinated and bespoke offer of bilateral and multilateral technical and financial cooperation.

Clear and tangible results from the partnership are to be delivered by COP30 in 2025.

Per Andersson, LeadIT Head of Secretariat stated: “LeadIT and the secretariat welcome the partnership and look forward to supporting the collaboration to unlock green industrial projects in sectors such as steel and cement. This partnership will be a key part of the future work of LeadIT as our members push the frontiers of the green industry transition forward to achieve net-zero emissions from industry by 2050.”
