This year the 27th Stockholm International Film Festival will strengthen it's focus on original storytellers and add star power to the program by introducing three new sections: Icons, Discovery and Documania.

Icons will focus on leading actors and actresses in cinema, Discovery includes powerful and diverse stories from debut directors and the section Documania contains the most vital biopic docs and real stories of the year.

The Stockholm International Film Festival will also continue to reward headstrong visionaries who reflect our contemporary world with the prestigious Impact Award. The award was established last year and the winner is awarded a prize sum of 1 million SEK (approx. 120 000 USD) and an award designed by the acclaimed artist and filmmaker Ai Weiwei.

– We want to open up to new talents in the Discovery section and focus more on documentaries, which is more popular than ever. We look forward to presenting the most extensive program ever, says Git Scheynius, Festival Director.
