Rosanna Arquette to receive the 2019 Stockholm Achievement Award

Rosanna Arquette is more than a fantastic actress, she’s an icon that draws the line against oppression and sexism. At the 30th Stockholm International Film Festival Rosanna Arquette is awarded with the 2019 Stockholm Achievement Award. She will accept the Bronze Horse at a red-carpet screening of the classical Desperately Seeking Susan (1985) at the two-year Anniversary of #tystnadtagning, the 8th November. 

The recipient of 2019 Stockholm Achievement Award is Rosanna Arquette, with the following motivation: 
With an impressive career start, Rosanna Arquette quickly became established as an actress with rare depth and range. With passionate and intelligent acting she brings her characters to life. Her political commitment and courage have made her into an icon and role model for drawing the line against oppression and sexism. It is with great honor we present Stockholm Achievement Award 2019 to Rosanna Arquette. 

– I’m honored to be the recipient of this year’s Stockholm Achievement Award at the Stockholm International Film Festival, says Rosanna Arquette. 

Rosanna Arquette has appeared in over 70 films and worked with directors like Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Luc Besson, Woody Allen and David Cronenberg. She was awarded a BAFTA for her star-making performance opposite Madonna in Susan Seidelman’s, Desperately Seeking Susan (1985). She has also done unforgettable roles in After Hours (1985), The Big Blue (1988), New York Stories (1989), Pulp Fiction (1994) and Crash (1996). 

In 2017, Rosanna Arquette were one of the first women to share details about Harvey Weinstein, that initiated the #metoo movement that has influenced the petition #tystnadtagning, against sexual assault and harassment in the Swedish film and theatre industries. She’s involved in the documentary Untouchable: The Rise and Fall of Harvey Weinstein (2019) that premiered at Sundance earlier this year.  

Rosanna Arquette will accept the Bronze Horse and have a Face2Face at a red-carpet screening for Desperately Seeking Susan 8:00 pm, November 8th at Skandia in Stockholm. The screening is set at the two-year Anniversary of #tystnadtagning and the actresses, as well as the initiators of #tystnadtagning, Alexandra Rapaport, Sofia Helin and Eva Röse will give over the Bronze Horse.  

Tickets to the film are released tomorrow at 10:00 am Friday 25th November. 

Other recipients at this year’s festival are Céline Sciamma, that’s awarded with 2019 Stockholm Visionary Award, Payman Maadi, that's awarded with 2019 Stockholm Achievement Award and Max von Sydow, that's awarded with 2019 Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award.
