To meet increasing transport needs and demands for efficiency, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, one of the world's largest container companies, is introducing services to Ports of Stockholm.
Beginning on 2 October 2012 MSC will operate weekly traffic to and from the Container Terminal Frihamnen.

“This is further evidence of our ability to match the demand from our clients by introducing this new direct call into the Port of Stockholm” says Mattias Hellström, Country Manager of MSC Sweden AB.
“Calling into the capital city of Sweden demonstrates our commitment to the Swedish market and with weekly calls already at the Ports of Gothenburg, Helsingborg, Gavle and Norrkoping, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is providing comprehensive coverage of all major Ports in Sweden through our own dedicated feeder service,” says Mike Barry, Logistics and Operations Manager of MSC Sweden AB.
“We are very pleased that MSC has decided to begin to call at the Container Terminal in Stockholm,” says Martin Allison, CEO of Hutchison Ports Sweden, the international operator of the Ports of Stockholm container port. “MSC can expect the highest level of service and efficiency, with room for growth in the short-term and in the future at the new container terminal at Norvikudden. MSC's weekly traffic between Antwerp – Bremerhaven and Stockholm offers cargo owners and transportation companies the opportunity to route increasing volumes of goods via the environmentally friendly transport option provided by shipping, which consequently enables overland traffic volumes to be minimized.”
“We welcome MSC to Ports of Stockholm,” says Dick Lagerberg, manager of transport and logistics at Ports of Stockholm. “This new line will provide further opportunities and greater flexibility for increased goods transport to the growing Stockholm region. It is very pleasing that MSC sees a future together with Ports of Stockholm.”
Volumes at the Container Terminal Frihamnen are to date up by almost ten percent on the same period last year. This latest development means that Unifeeder, Teamlines, SCA Transforest and MSC will now operate services to and from the Container Terminal at Ports of Stockholm.
