Stora Enso's co-determination negotiations regarding Kymenlaakso ended on 11
January 2008 and regarding Kemijärvi on 15 January 2008. The negotiations were
carried out in a constructive manner, and all parties tried to find a solution
to the situation. Stora Enso will announce the decisions on 17 January, when it
will also comment on the content of the negotiations.

People's concern for their jobs is well understood. Stora Enso has asked
consultants Ernst & Young to evaluate the initiatives presented and to find
new, economically viable solutions for the Kemijärvi and Kymenlaakso regions.
Stora Enso has also had meetings with the labour authorities, Employment and
Economic Development Centres and representatives of the government in order to
find solutions.
