STORA ENSO OYJ STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 15 September 2008 at 06.00 GMT            


During the 1-31 August 2008 conversion period there was one conversion and a    
total of 2 358 A shares were converted into R shares. The shares were recorded  
in the Finnish trade register today, 15 September 2008, and trading in the new  
R shares will start on 16 September 2008.                                       
	                                                                               
Breakdown of shares after conversion:                                           
A shares		177 152 531                                                       
R shares		612 385 968                                                          
Total	         789 538 499 

Each A share and each ten R shares carry one vote. The total amount of votes    
after conversion is 238 391 128.
