Stora Enso signs loan agreement with European Investment Bank

Stora Enso has signed a loan agreement with European Investment
Bank (EIB) for a EUR 200 million loan facility to finance Stora
Enso’s investment in building a new paper machine at Kvarnsveden
Mill in Sweden as announced in December 2003.

The facility is the result of a good long-term co-operation
between EIB and Stora Enso.

“We have negotiated an agreement that is in line with Stora
Enso’s practices and can serve as a platform for future
transactions with EIB,” comments Stora Enso’s CFO Esko
Mäkeläinen.

Stora Enso is currently building a new paper machine at
Kvarnsveden Mill with annual production capacity of 420 000
tonnes of high-quality super-calendered (SC) paper. The machine
is expected to start up at the end of 2005.
