Quality-enhancement investments at STORA Grycksbo

STORA's Board of Directors has decided to invest in Stora Grycksbo's PM 10 pa- per machine. It is expected that the SEK 365 million investment will have been fully implemented during summer 1999. Stora Grycksbo produces matt coated paper, which is sold under the G-Print brand, among others. In future, in order to further improve printability, while simultaneously maintaining runnability, the plant will switch from its current coating technique to single-layer blade coating. This will provide in- creased competitiveness and the opportunity to increase market share for G- Print. The investment sum also includes the cost of a new slitter-winder, which in addition to improving winding quality will enable production speed on the PM 10 to be increased. Stora Grycksbo AB, which produces coated and uncoated fine papers, is situated in Grycksbo, 11 km northwest of Falun, Sweden. Its three paper machines pro- vide the mill with the capacity to produce 175,000 tonnes of paper annually. Most of Stora Grycksbo's production is exported, mainly to customers in west- ern Europe.
