Sale of Building Products concludes the streamlining of STORA into an exclusively forest industries company STORA today completed the sale, announced earlier, of Stora Building Products to the Swedish company, Industri Kapital. Following the acquisition of Feldmühle Nobel at the beginning of the 1990s, the Group's strategy has focused on streamlining and concentrating its activities to core operations within the forest industries. Today, the two primary product areas are graphic papers and packaging board. As a result of the concentration process, several operating areas have been divested during the present decade. The sale of Stora Building Products, which is implemented retroactively as of July 1, 1996, concludes the concentration to core operations. For STORA, the sale releases funds of slightly more than SEK 900 million. The capital loss for the Group is approximately SEK 30 million, which will be charged against earnings in the third quarter of 1996.
