Storytel appoints Mari Wärri Head of Nordic Content Strategy
Storytel AB today announced that Mari Wärri will assume the newly created position of Head of Nordic Content Strategy as of November 9. In her new role, Mari Wärri will oversee and lead the development of Storytel’s Nordic content strategy, the company’s co-operation with Nordic publishers, and the synergies between Storytel’s Nordic content, publishing and production operations. Mari Wärri will report to Helena Gustafsson, Chief Content Strategy Officer at Storytel.
“Mari has wit, dedication and profound experience from developing publishing, content and marketing operations on a Nordic book market with tailwind fuelled by the fast audiobook growth. She is the perfect fit for the job. I’m confident that Mari’s strategic vision, collaborative mindset and commitment to stories and authorships will make her an amazing partner for Nordic publishers, and an inspiring catalyst for exciting content development and co-operation in the region”, says Helena Gustafsson, Chief Content Strategy Officer at Storytel.
Mari Wärri has a solid background from the publishing and content industry. Before joining Storytel as Country Manager for Finland for the years 2016–2019, Mari held positions such as Editorial & Publishing Manager and Sales & Marketing Director at one of Finland’s largest publishers, Bonnier-owned WSOY. In assuming the role as Head of Nordic Content Strategy, Mari steps down from her current position as CEO of the Finnish design and printing retailer Putinki Oy.
“It was an offer I simply couldn’t refuse. To me this job is a true dream – and homecoming. Storytel’s Nordic operations are without a doubt the best and most awesome in the book-streaming business today, and content is my life. I’m really eager to start combining these fine ingredients to create the best possible story cocktail, and create even more attractive experiences and value for our Nordic audience, the authors and the publishers”, says Mari Wärri.
