16 year old Belgian joins Strakka for Formula Renault 2.0 NEC assault

2015 will see Max Defourny step up to a full championship season of FR2.0 NEC with Strakka Racing. Demonstrating Defourny has quickly got to grips with the FR.20 car, the multiple karting champion was fastest on day one of the Eurocup test with the Silverstone team at Le Mans last week, winding up as fastest rookie over the two days. In addition to competing alongside Charlie Eastwood in the NEC championship with Strakka, Defourny will also take in three wildcard rounds in the Eurocup category.

“Strakka Racing demonstrated it has quickly got to grips with its new 2.0 cars,” says Max Defourny. “We worked really well at the Eurocup tests and I really felt at home with the team. We topped the times and were competitive in both the wet and dry. It looks good for the season ahead.”

The 16 year old, stepping in from Formula Renault 1.6 has a comprehensive test schedule with sessions at Aragon, Hockenheim, Spa and Assen ahead of the opening round at Monza on 11-12th April. “Max is a super driver, full of natural talent and he is very dedicated to getting the job done,” says Strakka’s Formula Renault 2.0 team manager Barclay Danaher. “He fits the profile perfectly of a Strakka driver and we are looking forward to race with him, supporting his rapid career progression.”

The FR2.0 NEC calendar consists of seven weekends, all with free practice, qualifying and two or three races.
