Dr Andrew Gill, Technical Director at Floreon, has once again presented at an industry leading conference. The Biobased Global Summit took place on the 9th and 10th October in Brussels; it was developed to assist decision-makers from the Bio Chemical, Plastic, Polymer and Packaging markets get to grips with the real potential and viability of the bioeconomy – in terms of chemicals, plastics and fuels.

Floreon has embarked on a whirlwind journey whilst developing innovative, fully recyclable and biodegradable bioplastics over the past four years. This includes a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with The University of Sheffield, various tests and trials in many different applications.

Andrew Gill, Floreon’s Technical Director and Steve Lister, Floreon’s Commercial Director, attended the summit and gave their presentation on the first day.

“This conference was a great opportunity to share our technology with other companies interested in the growing bio-economy. Floreon was presenting alongside Coca-Cola and Ford as well as stakeholders in feedstock production such as the National Farmer’s Union. The conference also addressed a lot of myths about land requirements for bioplastic production and was a great chance to network with like-minded organisations.”

Floreon’s presentation took the audience along Floreon’s journey right from the beginning to where the company and the product are at the present. Sharing the issues they faced and the paths they took to overcome them, the advantages found through the product trials and the company’s plans for the future.

"We are currently speaking to major retailers and brands about the commercial opportunities for Floreon bioplastics to be used in a wide range of industrial applications.  We have successfully completed a range of trials for injection moulding on cosmetic trays, blow moulding of bottles, extruded sheets for printing and 3D filament which indicates a very bright future for Floreon as the world’s most versatile bioplastic."

Floreon is made from the world’s first bioplastic performance material whose manufacture shows reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Made from plants not oil and derived from abundant 100% annually renewable plant resources.
