PRESS RELEASE REGARDING INTERIM REPORT NO. 1 (2001/2002) JULY 1 - SEPTEMBER 30, 2001 FOR AB NOVESTRA (PUBL.) SUMMARY AND FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS Novestra's shareholders' equity amounted to MSEK 426.5 (643.5) which corresponds to a value of SEK 18.2 (27.5) per share. Novestra's cash at hand amounted to MSEK 130.7 (66.4) which corresponds to SEK 5.6 (2.8) per share. Solidity amounted to 95.3% (91.4). Novestra's result for the period was MSEK - 17.4 (-19.8) which corresponds to SEK -0.7 (-0.8) per share. MSEK -7.8 (-2.6) of the result pertains to share of earnings of associated companies. During the last quarter, several of Novestra's industrial holdings have shown very good development in sales and result. In addition, several larger holdings have shown good business development and managed to secure further working capital. Novestra's strong cash position combined with low management costs enables Novestra to increase its ownership in companies which develop well and, to a certain extent, even to make new investments within the framework of industrial partnerships. With its present business focus, Novestra has no further capital requirements for the next few years. The situation in the financial markets continues to make it difficult for companies seeking new capital, however, Novestra believes that the remainder of the holdings stand a good chance of performing well.
