Skanska sign new contract with StreamServe for their enterprise business communications platform StreamServe has signed a new contract with Skanska. The new agreement represents one of the biggest deals to date for the Swedish software company. StreamServe will now provide Skanska with a comprehensive platform for their automated business communications. Late last year, Skanska put a new business system into operation for the whole company, based on Oracle Applications. The system has around 5000 users. StreamServe's enterprise business communications platform has been an integral part of the solution from the start, being used mainly to handle output data and reports. This new agreement with StreamServe means that a range of new business communications functions will now be available to Skanska, including electronic invoicing - a requirement for an increasing number of Skanska's customers. Communications will be based on XML, the foremost standard for business communication via the Internet. -" Our customers include Volvo, and they will no longer accept paper invoices from their suppliers", says Henrik Trygg, contracts manager for Skanska IT Services. Skanska are also planning to introduce StreamServe's XML-based solution as the platform for their communications with IBX, the Nordic e- marketplace that is managed by, among others, Eriksson and SEB (Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, one of the major Swedish banking groups). Skanska's business systems can now also make use of StreamServe's Mail- In-function. This means that incoming mail, such as quotations, will be automatically forwarded to the correct recipient, even if the mail is not addressed to them personally. - "We are seeing a constant increase in our need for integration and our ability to handle a wider range of communications methods and data formats. With StreamServe we are getting a business communications platform that makes this work a lot easier", says Henrik Trygg. -" Skanska's wide-ranging investments in the StreamServe platform mean that they are now one of our most strategic customers. This new agreement also confirms the strong trend towards XML, which is becoming ever more popular for many applications, both within sectors that had not previously used electronic business communications and sectors where the EDI standard has dominated, says Stefan Blomqvist, Nordic manager for StreamServe.
