Hewlett Packard Forms Alliance With StreamServe
Hewlett Packard Forms Alliance With StreamServe HP and StreamServe Co-Develop Advanced Output Management System For SAP Palo Alto, CA, and Raleigh, N.C., (August 24, 2000) - Hewlett Packard Company (HP) has formed a strategic alliance with StreamServe Inc., an e- business communication software company. Together, the companies today announced plans to co-develop, along with leading ERP vendor SAP AG, an advanced output management system that will be marketed both to SAP's installed base and its future customers. The main pillar of the new relationship will be integration of StreamServe technology into HP's output management product, which is aimed at helping organizations improve their information delivery capabilities and extend their business applications to the Internet. The HP and StreamServe alliance encompasses four strategic business and technological initiatives: * HP and StreamServe OEM Agreement - The most significant aspect of the alliance is that HP will embed StreamServe technology in a new HP output management solution, initially targeted for SAP customers (both R/3 and mySAP.com). The solution will help organizations to improve their information delivery capabilities and extend their business applications to the Web. StreamServe technology will be embedded in the application enabling support for a wide range of data formats and channels, including email, fax, HTML, PDF, and distributed printing. As part of the arrangement, StreamServe will provide presales, technical, and certification training to HP personnel. * Product Development Agreement - HP and StreamServe will initially focus efforts on SAP integration and enhanced functionality. Both companies have dedicated substantial development personnel to the next generation of software for information delivery and B2B communication. * Global Reseller Agreement - HP will also actively sell StreamServe's entire software product line for e-business communication. In support of this effort, the two companies will focus on marketing, training, and joint sales activities on a global basis. * Reference Sales Arrangement - StreamServe sales representatives and consultants will actively promote the HP output management solution as well as the output management software of Dazel, an HP software company. "This alliance with StreamServe is a logical extension to the agreement made two months ago between HP and SAP to co-develop an advanced output management solution for SAP customers," said Bill Bock, vice president and general manager of HP's Services and Solutions. "The addition of StreamServe to the equation means that we have a chance to develop an unparalleled output management solution for SAP's enterprise customers as well as the customers of other enterprise vendors." "This strategic alliance creates a tremendous opportunity for both companies to capitalize on the fast growing demand from the SAP customers for efficient and flexible business communication solutions. This opportunity will drive increased revenues for both companies", said Hans Otterling, StreamServe CEO.
