Summa Defence Plc                                         Press release                         25 June 2026 at 3:15 p.m. EEST

Summa Defence Plc's subsidiary Uudenkaupungin Työvene Oy has signed a contract with Maritime Craft Services (Clyde) Ltd (MCS) for the construction and delivery of one additional SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) vessel. The agreement also includes an option for one further vessel of the same class. The vessel will be built at Uudenkaupungin Työvene Oy's Olkiluoto shipyard facilities in Finland. The delivery is scheduled for 2027.

The SWATH vessel is intended for professional maritime operations primarily in offshore windfarms requiring high stability, operational reliability and performance in demanding sea conditions. Unlike conventional crew transfer vessels, SWATH vessels offer exceptional seakeeping characteristics through a hull design that significantly reduces pitch, roll and vertical accelerations. The result is a more stable platform for technicians, safer personnel transfers, and improved operational capability in adverse sea conditions.

Maritime Craft Services (MCS) is a leading provider of crew transfer and marine support services to the offshore wind industry. Based in Fairlie, North Ayrshire, Scotland. The company operates a modern fleet supporting wind farm developers, operators and service providers across key offshore energy markets.

The order follows the successful cooperation between Uudenkaupungin Työvene and MCS that started in 2023, and expands the existing relationship between the companies.

“The agreement also includes an option for a sister vessel, and if taken it will be SWATH delivery number 5 from Työvene to MCS.”, says Menno Kuyt, Managing Director of MCS.

Juha Granqvist, CEO of Uudenkaupungin Työvene Oy, commented: "We are pleased that MCS has decided to continue its cooperation with Uudenkaupungin Työvene Oy through this additional vessel order and option agreement. The decision reflects confidence in our shipbuilding capabilities, engineering expertise and our ability to deliver specialised vessels for demanding maritime missions."
