School Principal Gives High Grades To SURESMILE QT, Her Lingual “Hidden” Adult Braces

(Kenosha, WI July 6, 2011) Straight teeth and a beautiful smile can help build self-esteem for anyone, but for adults it is increasingly important for professional environments and interactions.  A Kenosha, WI.- based Catholic grade school principal Jacqueline Lichter said, "As I grew professionally, my teeth became more and more of an embarrassment to me.  Kids at school would say to me, 'why are your teeth so crooked?' "

Jacqueline never wore braces as a child; she didn't really need them, but her teeth became more and more crooked as she got older.  Her bite was off, two of her upper front teeth overlapped, and there was lots of bottom crowding.  In her mid 40's, her dentist encouraged her to check out orthdontic treatment.  “My dentist recommended braces for both aesthetic and dental health reasons. I was wearing my teeth down because of a misaligned bite.  No matter how much I brushed there was plaque build-up and my overlap only exacerbated the problem because it was difficult to floss,” said Jacqueline.

She visited her orthodontist looking for treatment options to straighten her teeth knowing she didn't want metal or ceramic braces.  Her orthodontist, Milwaukee and Kenosha-based Dr. Randall Moles, offered up an option that would give Jacqueline the precision treatment of traditional braces without the embarrassment of wearing braces on the front of her teeth.

Called SureSmile QT, the brackets and wires are hidden and placed behind the teeth on the lingual side, unnoticeable to anyone. While the concept of lingual orthodontic treatment is not totally new, orthodontists have avoided offering it because of the technical difficulty in executing "behind teeth" braces. Now, with SureSmile QT an orthodontic treatment system and technology, robotically-bent wires fit right into the brackets on the backside of the teeth. The manual bending and adjusting of the wires is removed from the process, making it a better experience for both orthodontist and patient.
