AssiDomän Packaging and Inland Container Enter Key Alliance to Develop Corrugated Businesses AssiDomän Packaging AB, the third largest integrated corrugated producer in Europe, and Inland Container Corporation, the third largest integrated producer of corrugated containers in the U.S., have signed a non-financial alliance. The announcement was made today by Ulf Kilander, AssiDomän Packaging president, and William B. Howes, Inland Container chairman and chief executive officer. In the first such agreement forged by either company, AssiDomän Packaging and Inland Container will share certain information on marketing techniques, and cooperate on research and technical development initiatives. The agreement is effective immediately. "The truly exciting possibilities that result from this key alliance include each company's ability to offer superior products to its customers. Our customers in Europe that need products in the Western Hemisphere will be able to purchase them from Inland and conversely, Inland's customers who require products in Europe will be able to use AssiDomän Packaging as their supplier. Because both companies are focused on value-added products, we believe all our customers can benefit from the strengths we bring in the areas of product design and quality", said Ulf Kilander. "Even more important," Kilander added, "both companies have distinctive ways of meeting customers' demands for key account management and supplier dedication. Together, we shall offer a very special business package, especially to major customers pursuing global strategies." "The globalization of our customers' businesses requires us to respond with innovative methods to deliver real value for their packaging needs," said Howes. "Our alliance with AssiDomän Packaging will provide a wealth of information and resources that will enhance our abilities to deliver an exceptional level of value to our customers. "We are extremely pleased to have AssiDomän Packaging, an organization of impeccable reputation and capabilities and whose goals and values are compatible with ours, as our strategic partner," Howes continued. "While our initial agreement is for a two-year period, we anticipate a much longer and highly beneficial alliance." AssiDomän Packaging's and Inland Container's production totals 3.3 million metric tons of containerboard annually at 11 mills. They manufacture containers and packaging in nearly 100 plants.
