AssiDomän to sell French unit

AssiDomän to sell French unit AssiDomän AB has signed an agreement to sell its company CGP in France. The buyer is Esswell Investment. CGP, which represents a turnover of FRF 240 million and has 230 employees, comprises one paper machine for light grade recycled packaging paper, a plastic extruder, a specialty coating machine and a converting plant for flexible packaging products. The CGP unit was part of the Esswell Group, which was acquired by AssiDomän in 1998 and has been integrated into AssiDomän´s Corrugated business in Spain, France, Italy, and Germany. "The CGP business does not fit in with the core activities of AssiDomän Corrugated. This deal is a step towards a clearer focus, particularly in France, on our identified core segments", explains Hans Lindecrantz, President of AssiDomän Corrugated. "We will continue to have an industrial and commercial relationship with CGP for certain specialty products to support our French market" says Jean-Marie Louette, Managing Director of AssiDomän Corrugated in France. AssiDomän is one of Europe´s leading forest products companies. Production is concentrated on packaging paper, packaging, sawn timber products and timber processing. The Group had a sales turnover of EUR 2,500 million in 1998 and has 17,000 employees.
